What ChefGPT is today
ChefGPT has several modes: PantryChef (cook from what you have), MasterChef, MacrosChef and MealPlanChef, which builds a week of meals with a shopping list. You can also photograph your ingredients with “Snap Ingredients”.
Over time the emphasis has moved towards health goals. Its website leads with “Cook Anything. Track Everything. Achieve Any Goal.”, its US App Store listing is now called “ChefGPT: AI Calories Tracker”, and it supports photo-based calorie logging.
That’s a good fit if you’re counting calories. If you just want help deciding what’s for dinner, a tracker adds steps you don’t need.
Where Cheffify is different
- It starts from the fridge, not a goal. You tell it what you have, and Cheffify picks the ingredients that make a familiar dish.
- It shows its working. You see what it used, what it skipped and why, and the one or two things worth buying.
- It’s made for households. Share recipes with your family, plan meal prep, and turn any recipe into a shopping list.
- It has a real free plan. 5 recipes every week, with no card needed.
How Cheffify handles a messy fridge
-
Tell it what you have
Type your ingredients, or snap a photo of your fridge. Pin anything that has to be used tonight.
-
It picks what goes together
Cheffify chooses the handful of ingredients that make a familiar dish (a frittata, stir-fry, pasta, traybake or soup) and assumes basics like oil, salt and pepper.
-
Cook, with nothing hidden
You see what it used, what it skipped and why, and the one or two things worth buying. Save it, add it to your shopping list or share it.
Price compared
ChefGPT’s plans, as listed on TrustMRR in October 2026, are $4.99 a week, $9.99 a month, or $29.99 to $69.99 a year, with a 3-day trial. On the App Store, in-app purchases range from $2.99 to $89.99, including a $59.99 one-time offer.
Cheffify Pro is €4.99 a month after a 7-day free trial, or €29.99 a year. Put another way, one week of ChefGPT’s weekly plan ($4.99) costs about the same as a whole month of Cheffify Pro (€4.99). And the Free plan stays free: 5 recipes a week.
Questions people ask
Is ChefGPT free?
Partly. Third-party listings describe a free web tier with about 10 recipe generations a month and ads, but ChefGPT’s App Store listing says features require an active paid subscription. The plans listed on TrustMRR in October 2026 run from $4.99 a week to $69.99 a year.
Is ChefGPT a calorie tracker now?
Largely. Its US App Store listing is named “ChefGPT: AI Calories Tracker”, and its website leads with “Cook Anything. Track Everything.” It still has recipe modes such as PantryChef and MealPlanChef.
What’s a cheaper alternative to ChefGPT?
Cheffify’s Free plan gives you 5 recipes a week, and Pro is €4.99 a month or €29.99 a year. DishGen’s free plan offers 15 credits a week. If you only need the occasional idea, a free chatbot like ChatGPT or Gemini also works.
Can Cheffify track calories?
No. Pro shows nutrition for each recipe, but Cheffify isn’t a food diary. If logging meals is the point, ChefGPT or a dedicated tracker is a better fit.
Can Cheffify make a recipe from a photo of my fridge?
Yes. Fridge Scan reads a photo of your fridge and turns it into an ingredient list for your recipe. You get one scan a week on the Free plan, and unlimited scans on Pro (fair use: 20 a day).
Does Cheffify have an app?
Cheffify runs in the browser on any phone, tablet or computer, and you can add it to your home screen like an app. There’s no App Store or Google Play app yet.
Open the fridge. We’ll pick dinner.
Tell Cheffify what you have and it picks what goes together, writes the recipe and tells you what it skipped. 5 free recipes every week, in your browser, with nothing to install.
