The Mealime alternative that starts with your fridge

Mealime made weeknight planning simple. Cheffify comes at dinner from the other side: tell it what's in your fridge, and it picks what goes together, writes the recipe, and tells you what it skipped. Then send what you need to your shopping list.

Free account, no card needed. Works in your phone's browser.

What happened to Mealime

  • Albertsons Companies, which bought Mealime in 2021, set October 21, 2026 as the app's last day.
  • Mealime's recipes are moving to Meals Hub, a free section inside the Albertsons Cos. grocery apps and websites. Mealime says it's run by the same team that made Mealime's recipes.
  • Pro subscriptions are being wound down. Mealime says Pro subscribers won't be charged any additional fees, and Pro recipes and features are free for everyone until the end.
  • When the app shuts down, all personal data is deleted. The notice doesn't mention a way to export saved recipes or meal plans, and some preferences have to be set up again in Meals Hub.

How to keep your Mealime recipes

Mealime doesn't offer an export, so the safest route is to save copies yourself while the app still opens. It takes about ten minutes for a dozen favorites.

  1. Screenshot the recipes you actually cook

Open each favorite and capture the ingredients and the steps. Two or three screenshots per recipe is usually enough. Move them into one photo album called "Mealime" so they're easy to find later.

  2. Write down your food rules

Note your diet, allergies and the ingredients you avoid. Whatever app you use next will ask, and it's easier to copy them than to remember them.

  3. Check your subscriptions

Mealime says Pro subscribers won't be charged again. If you subscribed through Apple or Google, a quick look at your device's subscription settings confirms it.

  4. Pick where to cook next

If you want Mealime's exact recipes, Meals Hub has them. If you'd rather cook from what's already in your kitchen, try Cheffify, and bring your screenshots along: you can add a recipe from a photo.

How Cheffify is different

It starts with what you have

Type in what's in your fridge and pantry, star the things you want to use up, and Cheffify picks what goes together. Every recipe comes with a little receipt: what it used, what it skipped and why, and the one thing worth buying.

Meal-prep plans with a game plan

Pick how many days, how many servings and your goal. You get the recipes, a step-by-step prep guide for cooking them together, and one combined shopping list. Meal-prep plans are part of Pro.

All your recipes in one place

Save the ones you love and tag them your way. Add your own by typing them in, pasting a link from a recipe site, or uploading a photo of a cookbook page or screenshot.

Shared with the people you feed

Create a family group and share recipes with everyone at your table, so the person cooking tonight can see what's planned.

Other good Mealime alternatives

Cheffify isn't the right fit for everyone. If one of these sounds more like you, go for it.

  • Meals Hub

The official successor, inside the Albertsons Cos. grocery apps. It has Mealime's recipes plus thousands more, free. Mealime says you can still browse recipes, make meal plans and build shopping lists without a store nearby.

  • Paprika

A recipe manager you buy once, with a meal-plan calendar and an aisle-sorted grocery list. Good if you mostly want to keep and organize recipes you already have.

  • Plan to Eat

A subscription meal planner with a recipe clipper and a 14-day free trial. Good if you plan full weeks from your own recipe collection.

  • Samsung Food

A free recipe saver and weekly planner with shared shopping lists, and a paid tier for personalized plans. Good if you like a big recipe community.

  • Cheffify

Good if your dinner question is "what can I make with what I've got?" rather than "what should I buy this week?"
